Brinker 1Q net income rises 12.1%

Same-store sales, traffic rise at Chili’s, Maggiano’s

Brinker International Inc. reported Tuesday a 12.1-percent increase in net income for the Sept. 24-ended first quarter, and slight increases in traffic at both of its casual-dining brands.

The Dallas-based company said same-store sales rose during the quarter and included traffic increases of 0.1 percent at is company-owned Chili’s Grill & Bar restaurants and 0.9 percent at Maggiano’s Little Italy units.

Brinker owns and franchise 1,574 Chili’s restaurants and 48 Maggiano’s units.
 

1Q NET INCOME

Result: $32.7 million, 49 cents per share
% Increase: 12.1% (from $29.2 million, or 42 cents per share)

1Q REVENUE

Result: $711 million
% Increase: 3.8% (from $784.7 million)

1Q SAME-STORE SALES

% Increase systemwide: 2.4%


% Increase Chili's corporate: 2.6%


% Increase Chili's franchised: 1%


% Increase Maggiano's Little Italy: 0.6%
