AFC Enterprises Inc., parent to the quick-service Popeyes chain, reported Wednesday a 30-percent increase in net income during the third quarter ended Oct. 6, saying back-to-back promotions of its Chicken Waffle Tenders and its signature bone-in chicken during the quarter helped drive a global same-store sales increase of 5.1 percent.
The Atlanta-based company opened 33 net units, ending the quarter with 2,187 restaurants in the U.S. and its territories, as well as 27 foreign countries.
