10 brands with the best value: Consumer Picks 2019

NRN presents Consumer Picks, a data-driven report on customer preference and restaurant brand strength. Data for this report is provided by market research firm Datassential. Find out more about the data here and read more about the methodology here.

Burger and pizza dominated the value rankings this year, with eight of the top 10 falling into one of those categories. Consumer Picks favorite In-N-Out topped the list for its focused menu of burgers, fries and shakes at prices that have been relatively slow to rise over its 70 years in business. North Carolina-based Cook Out tied for the No. 3 spot, while Checkers/Rally’s and Steak ’n Shake rounded out the burger presence in a tie for No. 8.

Meanwhile, the four pizza brands on the list each offered a unique value proposition.

Little Caesars Hot-N-Ready platform is design to make picking up a family meal nearly seamless. Papa Murphy’s take-and-bake model gives customers full control over their meals. Cicis’ buffet lets customers get a little bit of everything. And MOD Pizza aims to be fast yet fully customizable.

Just two brands broke from the burger-and-pizza mold: Del Taco, which came in at No. 7, and No. 10 Pollo Tropical.
