Dickey’s Barbecue Pit

Dickey’s Barbecue Pit is one of the nation’s largest barbecue chains offering Texas-style, slow-smoked meats. The concept was founded in 1941 by World War II veteran Travis Dickey in Dallas, initially with a focus on beef brisket and pit hams.

His sons, brothers Roland and T.D. Dickey, took over the business in 1967 and began expanding. The chain is now in 44 states, and the menu has grown to include pulled pork, St. Louis-style ribs, polish sausages, smoked turkeys and chicken, with an array of sides, complementary rolls and ice cream.

Dickey’s in 2021 launched a virtual brand called Wing Boss with plans for expansion.
