Burger King Corp.

Burger King Corp., a division of Toronto-based Restaurant Brands International Inc., is among the United States’ Big Three burger brands, with The Wendy’s Co. and McDonald’s Corp.

Burger King, founded in 1954, is known for the signature Whopper hamburger, which, when it was introduced in 1957, was a departure from McDonald’s menu, which was selling smaller burgers. The company offers a breakfast menu and delivery through third-party providers.

In addition to Burger King, Restaurant Brands International also owns the Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen and Tim Hortons quick-service brands.

In October 2020, Burger King announced an initiative to modernize its drive-thrus.

Burger King system operates more than 18,600 locations in more than 100 countries, and nearly all of them are owned and operated by independent franchisees.
