Edgar Rico of Nixta Taqueria in Austin, Texas, won the Emerging Chef award, which replaces the Rising Star Chef prize that was granted by a chef aged 30 or younger. The new award has no age restrictions.
Best New Restaurant went to Owamni Minneapolis, and was accepted by owner Sean Sherman.
Chris Bianco of Tratto, Pane Bianco and Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix, was named Outstanding Restaurateur.
Chai Pani in Asheville, N.C., won the award for Outstanding restaurant, which was accepted by executive chef Meherwan Irani.
Warda Bouguettaya of Wanda Pâtisserie in Detroit was named Outstanding Pastry Chef.
Don Guerra of Barrio Bread in Tucson, Ariz., was named Outstanding Baker
Cúrate in Asheville, N.C., won the award for Outstanding Hospitality and was accepted by chef and owner Katie Button
Justin Chearno, wine director of Four Horsemen in Brooklyn, N.Y., accepted the wine bar’s award for Outstanding Wine Program
Owner Alba Huerta accepted the award for Outstanding Bar Program on behalf of Julep in Houston.
Robyn Maii of Fête in Honolulu was named Best Chef of the Northwest and Pacific, which encompasses Oregon, Washington, Alaska and Hawaii
Nisachon Morgan of Saap in Randolph Vt., won Best Chef of the Northeast, which includes all six New England states
Adam Evans of Automatic Seafood and Oysters in Birmingham, Ala. was named Best chef of the South (Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi and Puerto Rico)
Caroline Glover of Annette in Aurora, Colo., was named Best Chef of the Mountain region (Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Utah and Wyoming.
Brendan Jew of Mister Jiu’s in San Francisco was named Best Chef in California
Erick Williams of Virtue Restaurant & Bar in Chicago, pictured with his wife Tiffany, was named Best Chef in the Great Lakes region (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio)
Cristina Martinez of South Philly Barbacoa in Philadelphia was named Best Chef in the Mid-Atlantic (D.C., Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia).
Dane Baldwin of The Diplomat in Milwaukee was named Best Chef of the Midwest (Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin)
