Dave & Buster’s names new financial chief

Scott Bowman hired from sporting goods retailer

Dave & Buster's Entertainment Inc. has named Scott Bowman as chief financial officer, the company said Monday.

The Dallas-based restaurant and entertainment brand said the appointment was effective immediately, with Bowman succeeding interim CFO Joe DeProspero.

Bowman most recently served as CFO at Birmingham, Ala.-based Hibbett Sports Inc., a position he had held since July 2012.

Prior to his time at Hibbett, a sporting goods retailer, Bowman served in various roles at The Home Depot, including as a divisional CFO. He also worked in controller and accounting management positions at Rubbermaid Home Products, Anchor Hocking Co. and the Sherwin-Williams Co.

"Scott brings a proven track record of success and deep experience working with brands that, like us, are focused on creating a great customer experience,” said Brian Jenkins, Dave & Buster’s CEO. “His strategic vision, financial discipline, and care for the people he supports will make him a great addition to our senior team.”

Dave & Buster’s said DeProspero was being promoted to the role of senior vice president for supply chain and business development after serving as interim CFO since August, when former CFO Jenkins succeeded Stephen King as CEO. DeProspero previously held financial planning and analysis roles at Arby’s Restaurant Group and Carlson Restaurants Worldwide Inc.

“We’d like to thank Joe for serving as our interim chief financial officer for these past nine months,” Jenkins said. “He has been a tremendous contributor to our success since 2006, and we look forward to his leadership of our supply chain team and business development initiatives.”

For the fourth quarter ended Feb. 3, Dave & Buster’s net income, with special charges, fell 17.4% to $29.4 million, or 75 cents a share, from $35.6 million, or 85 cents a share, in the prior-year period. Revenues increase 8.1% to $331.8 million from $304.9 million in the same quarter last year.

Same-store sales increased 2.9% in the quarter.

Dave & Buster's owns and operates 127 venues in 39 states, Puerto Rico and Canada.
