Wakey, wakey: N.C. doc doctors pastry with jolt of caffeine

DURHAM, N.C. —A molecular scientist is trying to jolt people into adding more caffeine to their diets—not from coffee, but from baked goods he is infusing with 100 milligrams of the stuff, the equivalent of a 5-ounce cup of drip-brewed java.

Dr. Robert Bohannon, who also moonlights as the owner of Sips Coffee & Tea here, plans to market his invention under the monikers “Buzz Donuts” and “Buzzed Bagels,”
