LOUISVILLE Ky. Seeking to gain a marketing advantage from last week’s shuttering of nearly 200 Bennigan’s and Steak and Ale restaurants, the Texas Roadhouse chain has begun accepting their unredeemed gift cards in exchange for a certificate for a free entree at the steakhouse.
The website of the Louisville-based operator or franchisor of more than 300 units said participating Texas Roadhouses will issue the certificate, which is good for one entree on a next visit. The offer is limited to one per person, does not including beverages or gratuity, and is not redeemable for cash. The offer is good through the end of the month.
"We are making this offer as a goodwill gesture to help out anyone holding a Bennigan's/Steak and Ale gift card," the company's website said.
About 135 franchised Bennigan's remain open and were not involved in the July 29 bankruptcy liquidation filing by longtime franchisor S&A Restaurant Corp., an arm of Metromedia Restaurant Group.
