Taco Del Mar to serve up 5-pound burrito

SEATTLE Taco Del Mar customers can stuff their faces for prizes and bragging rights if they take the chain's Cinco de Mayo challenge and eat a 5-pound burrito in 30 minutes or less.

Taco Del Mar said it would offer a massive Cinco de Mondo burrito for $17.95 to celebrate the Mexican holiday next month. About the size of four-and-a-half of the chain's regular Mondo burritos, the 5-pound item features four flour tortillas filled with rice, beans, chicken or ground beef, cheese, pico de gallo and a choice of sauces.

Any customer who is able to scarf down the whole thing in less than half an hour wins a $20 gift certificate and a variety of Taco Del Mar merchandise. Rules for the promotion on the chain's website specify that the burrito must be consumed in front of an employee judge and that it cannot be shared.

ATaco Del Mar spokeswoman said all of the Seattle-based chain's more than 200 restaurants are participating in the May 5 promotion.
