Red Mango will test its first in-store location at a unit to open later this month in a United Supermarket store in Abilene, Texas.
Construction on the new Red Mango outlet began this week, a representative of the Dallas-based frozen yogurt–smoothie chain said. Beach Ventures LLC, the franchise holder that operates a full-size Red Mango in Lubbock, Texas, will operate the grocery unit.
“Both United and Red Mango share a commitment to the health and wellness of our guests, so we feel this is a natural fit,” Wes Jackson, chief merchandising officer for Lubbock-based United Supermarkets LLC, said in a statement. “We are excited to offer our guests a unique in-store experience with Red Mango.”
In addition, the Red Mango counter will serve Arriba! coffee, United’s house brand.
The United Supermarket in Abilene also houses other external foodservice vendors, including a Sharky’s Burrito Co. location since 2006.
Red Mango franchises 150 units.
