Panera to promo new coffees with giveaway

RICHMOND HEIGHTS Mo. Panera Bread said it would showcase its expanded morning offerings next Wednesday by handing out free cups of its new coffee blends and samples of its grilled breakfast sandwiches and new Strawberry Granola Parfait.

The new coffee offerings include a Light Roast and a Dark Roast, said officials from Panera Bread Co. The new Light Roast coffee uses a blend of South and Central American beans that are lightly roasted, and the Dark Roast features a new blend of Costa Rican beans. The coffee prices at a unit in Hoboken, N.J., were $1.81 for a small, $1.92 for a medium and $2.02 for a large cup.

“With a choice of coffee for every taste all in one place, we think our new coffee is the perfect complement to our breakfast experience,” said Scott Davis, chief concept officer at Panera Bread.

Also new on Panera's menu is a Strawberry Granola Parfait. The parfait, introduced last week, features low-fat, organic yogurt, fresh strawberries and maple, butter-pecan granola with whole-grain oats. It was priced at $3.59 at a unit in Hoboken, N.J.

Also during the giveaway on Wednesday, Panera said it would ask customers to donate a dollar to its Operation Dough-Nation Community Breadboxes and added that participating stores would match any donations. Funds raised through Operation Dough-Nation support local community programs, Panera said.

Panera Bread Co. operates or franchises 1,230 bakery-cafes under the Panera and St. Louis Bread Co. brands.
