NYC restaurants, SeamlessWeb offer free coffee

NEW YORK SeamlessWeb, an online food ordering service, is partnering with several restaurants throughout Manhattan to give away free cups of coffee this month.

SeamlessWeb said it expects to hand out 100,000 free cups of coffee in the promotion, which kicked off Monday. Each week in February, a different neighborhood will be highlighted, with restaurants in that area each giving away up to 600 small cups of coffee a day.

The coffee comes "compliments of SeamlessWeb," the company said in a statement.

"Free Coffee Days is our way of saying thank you to the many thousands of clients, consumers and local restaurant partners that rely on SeamlessWeb to connect them together," said Jason Finger, president of New York-based SeamlessWeb, which offers online food delivery and catering services in several U.S. cities and London.

The free coffee promotion is good Monday through Friday until Feb. 27. No purchase is necessary. Participating restaurants can be found here.

SeamlessWeb's offer comes as several restaurant chains are using giveaways to drive traffic. Both Panera Bread Co. and Caribou Coffee Co. served free coffee last week, and Denny's on Tuesday was offering free Grand Slam breakfast meals.
