Muhammad Ali, other stars help MFHA raise money

PROVIDENCE R.I. The Multicultural Foodservice & Hospitality Alliance is conducting an online auction of sports memorabilia, acknowledged travel boondoggles, dinners with industry executives and other prizes to raise funds for the group's mission of promoting diversity within the hospitality and foodservice industries.

The first-ever event coincides with the MFHA's 2007 National Conference, which opens this weekend in San Francisco. Attendees would also be able to bid on the auction items there. The gathering is themed, "Gateway to Results: Real People, Real Progress."

The items up for bid range from boxing gloves signed by Muhammad Ali, to dinner with Yum! Brands Inc. chief executive David Novak; a dinner prepared by Buca di Beppo founding executive chef Vittorio Renda for 25; and a year's supply of Dunkin' Donuts coffee. A complete listing is available at http://www.mfhaauction.cmarket.com.

The MFHA, based here, is a national non-profit think tank that promotes the economic benefits of inclusion and diversity in the hospitality and foodservice industry.
