Mama Fu's debuts redesigned menu

AUSTIN Texas Mama Fu's Asian House, a 12-unit pan-Asian chain, said Monday it has redesigned its menu panels to make them easier to read and added several new dishes.

Marcia Oakes, director of marketing for Mama Fu’s, said the new menu is featured on boards created from focus groups and guest feedback.

“It was clear that newer guests were initially confused by the old menu, and even our frequent customers were largely unaware of some of our menu offerings,” Oakes said. “By redesigning the menu with a contemporary look and user-friendly organization, guests can navigate their options more easily. Additionally, our revised item descriptors better explain the flavor profile of each dish.”

She said the menu panels also make the transition from fast-casual lunch format to full-service dinner easier.

Mama Fu's also has added several new menu items, including a General's Wings appetizer, $7.99, which features a pound of crisp wings tossed in a spicy-sweet chili, garlic and scallion glaze. Also new are the Singapore noodles, which includes a bowl of rice noodles tossed in a spicy yellow curry with carrots, onions, scallions, celery, garlic and basil; and orange peel rice, which includes broccoli, mushrooms, red bell peppers and scallions tossed in a sweet-chili orange peel glaze and served with a choice of white, brown or fried rice. Prices on the noodles and orange peel rice range from $7.29 to $9.29, depending on the protein selected.

Mama Fu's has also introduced a soup and salad combo, which offers a choice of any small salad and a bowl of soup for $5.99.

Mama Fu's has 12 corporate-owned and franchised restaurant locations throughout the southeastern United States. The Murphy Adams Restaurant Group of Austin, which was once a franchisee of Mama Fu’s, bought the brand in March 2008, when it was a 17-unit subsidiary of Raving Brands Inc. of Atlanta.
