Jean Birch quits as Macaroni Grill president

DALLAS Jean Birch has stepped down as president of Romano’s Macaroni Grill, parent company Brinker International Inc. said in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing today.

Birch had also served as a senior vice president of Brinker.

Earlier this month, Brinker said it was exploring the sale of the 240-unit Macaroni Grill chain to focus on its flagship Chili’s Grill and Bar, Maggiano’s Little Italy and On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina concepts.

Brinker named John Reale, 53, interim president of Macaroni Grill. Reale was at one time the chief operating officer for Macaroni Grill. Since June 2007, he has served as senior vice president and chief operating officer of Brinker’s global business development division.

Birch had been president of Macaroni Grill since January 2005 and joined Brinker in 2003 as president of The Corner Bakery Café division, which was spun off last year.
