Jack in the Box rolls out chorizo breakfast burrito

SAN DIEGO Jack in the Box on Monday introduced the use of Mexican-style chorizo sausage in a breakfast burrito in what officials described as a first for a national quick-service burger chain.

Jack in the Box's new Chorizo Sausage Breakfast Burrito features hash brown sticks, scrambled eggs, crumbled chorizo sausage and cheddar cheese sauce stuffed in a flour tortilla and served with fire-roasted salsa.

“Chorizo has been a popular breakfast choice for years, but it’s hard to find on the menus of our major competitors,” said Teka O’Rourke, Jack in the Box's director of menu marketing and promotions. “With Latin flavors gaining in popularity and breakfast such an important daypart for our business, we thought this was the perfect time to add more south-of-the-border flavor to our menu.”

The new burrito, available all day, is priced at a recommended $2.99 at participating restaurants. Jack in the Box operates or franchises more than 2,180 namesake units in 18 states, as well as more than 480 Qdoba Mexican Grill locations.
