LOS ANGELES The Los Angeles-based Grill Concepts, parent to the casual-dining Daily Grill chain, is planning to test a new quick-service outlet in Seattle to be called In Short Order.
The grab-and-go kiosk, scheduled to open at the Sheraton Seattle before the end of the year, would offer a limited number of menu items from the Daily Grill, which opened there last month. In Short Order’s menu is still being developed, but likely candidates might include the Daily Grill’s signature Cobb salad, soups and sandwiches, said Philip Gay, Grill Concepts president and chief executive.
If successful, In Short Order would add another possible growth avenue for Grill Concepts, which this week completed the a private offering that raised $14.1 million to help fund expansion of the Daily Grill and the company’s fine-dining Grill on the Alley brands.
Grill Concepts owns, manages and licenses 26 restaurants, including five Grill on the Alley and 21 Daily Grill locations across the country. Another Daily Grill is scheduled to open in Austin, Texas, in the fall. Going forward, the company is planning to open four to six restaurants each year, including both Daily Grill and Grill on the Alley brands, Gay said.
