Granite City taps new COO

MINNEAPOLIS Granite City Food & Brewery said it has promoted Darius Gilanfar to chief operating officer. He replaces Tim Cary, who resigned.

Gilanfar was hired last September to serve as operations senior vice president at the 25-unit brewpub chain. His foodservice experience includes roles at The Cheesecake Factory, Brinker International and the Starbucks division at retailer Barnes & Noble.

Succeeding Gilanfar is Eric LaClair, who previously served as district operator. Granite City also said it has expanded the role of its chief financial officer, Jim Gilbertson, to include oversight of information technology and construction functions at the company.

"With the growth of Granite City, we realized that our structure needed to change in order to provide greater depth and meet the demands of a company approaching $100 million in revenue," said Steve Wagenheim, chief executive of Granite City.

Granite City posted revenue of $75.9 million in fiscal 2007.
