Golden Corral says systemwide sales approach $370M

RALEIGH N.C. Privately held Golden Corral, the 478-unit grill-buffet chain based here, said systemwide sales for the second quarter ended June 20 totaled $369.2 million, up 4.9 percent from the same year-earlier period.

Systemwide sales for the first six months of 2007 were $727.9 million, an increase of 4.2 percent from the same year-earlier period.

Golden Corral, which is owned by Investors Management Corp., is made up of 369 franchised restaurants and 109 company-owned restaurants in 41 states.

Larry Tate, senior vice president of franchise sales for the chain, said that new franchisees signed to date in 2007 were slated to open restaurants in South Carolina, Michigan, Georgia, New Jersey and Florida.
