Goebel resurfaces on Jack in the Box board

SAN DIEGO Jack in the Box Inc. said this week that former Applebee’s chief executive David Goebel has joined the quick-service company’s board of directors.

Goebel was well known as head of Applebee’s former parent company, Applebee’s International Inc., from 2006 until the chain was purchased by IHOP Corp. in a contentious buyout in late 2007. Goebel had been with Applebee’s under various roles since 2001. Prior to joining the casual-dining company, Goebel was president of Summit Management Inc., a consulting group he founded that specialized in executive development and strategic planning, and chief operating officer of Finest Foodservice LLC, an area development franchise for Boston Market that he founded and co-owned.

Jack in the Box operates or franchises more than 2,100 restaurants under its namesake quick-service chain, and 450 restaurants under the fast-casual Qdoba Mexican Grill.
