El Pollo Loco to star in ‘Apprentice’

IRVINE Calif. El Pollo Loco will be featured on the Jan. 28 episode of “The Apprentice: Los Angeles” as the two competing teams create, market and sell their versions of the chain’s popular Pollo Bowl.

El Pollo Loco chief executive Steve Carley, joined by chief marketing officer Karen Eadon, will appear during the episode to give the teams their instructions. The chain is the latest restaurant operation to participate in the show, and El Pollo Loco’s appearance comes as it makes a push to expand significantly outside of its West Coast market.

The national exposure that the show affords to corporate partners is expected to raise brand awareness in new and existing markets and “ignite excitement in regions we are exploring as part of our national expansion,” Carley said in a statement.

El Pollo Loco franchises and operates 359 restaurants, most of them in the West and Southwest.
