Donatos sells corporate stores in Indy, Cinci

Donatos Pizza has agreed to sell a majority share of all of its restaurants in Indianapolis and about three quarters of its Cincinnati units to a franchisee, Titan Restaurant Group.

As part of the agreement Titan said it would add a total of 10 restaurants to those markets within the next six years. It is buying 16 restaurants in Cincinnati and 23 in Indianapolis.

Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

Donatos president and chief operating officer Jane Grote Abell said in a statement that the agreement would allow the company “to continue to follow our strategic plan of growth through franchising.”

With the current sale, Donatos operates 66 restaurants and franchises an additional 113 units.

Titan’s principals are chain restaurant veterans Jack Whiting and Mike Simon. Simon is a former vice president of U.S. operations for Tim Hortons. He also was an executive at Pizza Hut, where he was responsible for installing the chain’s delivery system, Donatos said.

Whiting was a senior vice president for the Midwest region of Wendy’s and currently is a franchisee of 14 Wendy’s restaurants in Columbus, Ohio.
