Domino’s flashes the bat signal

ANN ARBOR Mich. Domino’s Pizza plans to get some sales help from Batman this summer with a tie-in to “The Dark Knight,” the latest movie featuring the comic book superhero.

Promotional efforts that begin today include the launch of a new pizza, a daily $10,000 giveaway and an interactive initiative featuring content from the film, which starts in theaters July 18.

The Gotham City Pizza, available for $9.99 through July 27, is a large, hand-tossed pizza with 50 percent more pepperoni than a standard portion. The pizza is delivered in a movie-themed box. Each of the four versions of the box highlights a different element of the Batman costume, including the mask, arm gauntlets, utility belt and chest emblem.

From July 7 to 27, customers will get a chance to have $10,000 delivered to their door in a “Gotham National Bank” armored vehicle when they order the pizza.

Customers who make any Domino’s purchase can access the Dark Knight Vault, an interactive feature at www.dominos.com containing movie trailers and exclusive footage from the movie, cast interviews, downloadable wallpapers and a preview of the forthcoming “The Dark Knight Production Art & Script Book.”

The site also features an instant-win “The Cards Tell the Tale” game, in which players can take on The Joker for a chance to win a limited edition of The Dark Knight-themed Xbox 360 game system.

Domino’s has 8,641 units worldwide.
