ATLANTA Denny’s has teamed up with the Tom Joyner Foundation to promote higher education for single parents.
Beginning in January, DennyÕ's and the Tom Joyner Foundation will give a $1,500 scholarship to a single parent attending the foundation's school of the month. The schools of the month will be selected from among the nation's historically black colleges and universities.
Denny's and the foundation are kicking off the program on Friday with a Single Parent Student Summit at Spelman College here.
"Higher education can be the key to a better career and for many people, a better way of life," said Nelson Marchioli, president and CEO of Denny's Corp., the Spartanburg, S.C.-based operator or franchisor of more than 1,500 family-dining restaurants.
The Tom Joyner Foundation is a nonprofit organization that focuses on promoting enrollment in historically black colleges and universities.
