Chick-fil-A expands Calif. test of spicy sandwich

ATLANTA Chick-fil-A is expanding its test of a new spicy chicken sandwich to include 32 stores in California, officials of the 1,440-unit chain said Wednesday.

The sandwiches, which are currently in test in Baltimore and Jacksonville, Fla., will now be available in Los Angeles and Orange Counties, San Diego, the Inland Empire, Bakersfield, Oxnard and the Fresno and Sacramento areas of California.

Priced at $3.25, the item, which is a variation of its signature, hand-breaded chicken sandwich, is seasoned with spicy peppers and served on a buttered bun with pickles. Lettuce and tomato are optional.

In 2008, the chain posted annual sales of $2.96 billion.
