CARPINTERIA Calif. The Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s quick-service chains have delayed their switch to trans-fat-free cooking oil by almost a year because of “operational issues,” parent company CKE Restaurants Inc. said late Wednesday.
CKE's previously announced plan called for a switch throughout both systems to a canola cooking oil by January. However, company officials said Wednesday that unspecified "issues" in the latter stages of testing have pushed the rollouts back to the end of 2008.
CKE Restaurants, based here, operates or franchises 1,111 Carl's Jr. and 1,909 Hardee's restaurants.
