Burgerville touts a 'natural' hot dog

VANCOUVER Wash. The Burgerville regional quick-service chain said it has added a $2.99 "natural" hot dog as a promotional item available until Nov. 5.

The all-beef dogs are made without preservatives from cattle that were raised without artificial hormones, according to the 39-unit chain. The frankfurters are topped with ketchup, onions, Tillamook cheese and Burgerville's proprietary spread.

To accompany the hot dogs, the chain also added "natural" potato chips, which are fried daily in trans-fat-free canola oil, as a limited-time offer. The chips are available a la carte for $1.59 per order or as a substitute for French fries in combo meals. Two hot dogs are served with the chips and a beverage for $6.99.

Burgerville is known for using locally grown ingredients, such as onions from Walla Walla, Wash., and blueberries from the Pacific Northwest.
