BK targets Hispanics with soccer events

MIAMI Burger King Corp. is seeking to better target key Hispanic markets with the rollout of Futbol Kingdom, a series of interactive street-level events scheduled for eight markets across the United States throughout August and September.

The free events, also designed to reach second- and third-generation Hispanics, will feature Soccershowdown, an internationally known team of champion freestyle and street ball players from Europe. The Futbol Kingdom center court will showcase the team’s freestyle show and include interactive head-to-head demonstrations. The players also will teach their “ground moves” in clinics.

People who attend the events will have a chance to participate in sessions to test their skills in various games. Participants will be eligible for Dr Pepper and Burger King product giveaways. The chain also will be sampling products at select events.

Cities hosting the events include Chicago, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Miami, Denver, Houston and Sacramento, Calif.

Amicrosite at www.futbolkingdom.com is supporting the promotion.
