BK’s kids’ meal packaging, cups to take on green hue

MIAMI Burger King Corp. said Wednesday that this summer it would give a green makeover to its kids’ meals packaging in all domestic units.

Beginning in July, all of Burger King’s kids’ meals will be packaged in bags made from 100-percent recycled materials and the beverage cups made available with meals will be made from 10-percent recycled materials.  The new packaging will feature information on recycling and other steps kids can take to make a positive impact on the environment.

“We're taking advantage of our ability to move quickly to introduce 100-percent recycled bags and improve the profile of our cups,” said Brian Gies, vice president of marketing impact for the quick-service chain based here. “Burger King Corp. is always looking for ways to reduce waste and promote sustainability.”

Burger King has approximately 11,395 units in 69 countries, including 7,500 in the United States and Canada.
