NRN Facebook chat: How is big data transforming restaurant operations?

Restaurants today have access to a seemingly endless amount of consumer data, and with that comes a new set of challenges. Operators need to determine how to collect and manage data, and, perhaps most importantly, how to put it to use.

NRN West Coast Bureau Chief Lisa Jennings will explore the boom in data-driven tools and how they are transforming restaurant operations, in a Facebook chat Wednesday.

Jennings is the author of "Restaurant operators make big data small," part of a recent NRN report on technology reshaping the restaurant industry.

She will be joined by Brian Anthony, chief information officer at the Carl’s Jr.’s franchise company Star Chasers Oklahoma Inc. The company cross references data collected from several sources, and has begun using the data to make predictability forecasts.

Representatives from restaurant technology companies also are scheduled to participate in the chat.
