Walk-On’s adds seafood menu for Lent

Casual-dining chain offers tuna nachos, mahi fries and crawfish queso

Walk-on’s Bistreaux & Bar, a 17-unit casual dining chain based in Baton Rouge, La., has rolled out a line of Louisiana-style seafood items for Lent as part of an annual tradition it calls Seafood Lagniappe, or a little something extra.

“Our team is constantly experimenting with new ideas and creating innovative, quality dishes to ensure that we’re delivering memorable experiences for our guests,” vice president of culinary Mike Turner said in a release announcing the limited-time items, available through April 1. “True to our Louisiana roots, this time of year is full of delicious seafood dishes and we celebrate that annually with our Seafood Lagniappe offerings.”

The new items are:

Ahi Tuna Nachos: Fried tortilla chips topped with ahi tuna, cucumber salad, avocado, peppadew peppers and sweet chile sauce, $9.99
Crawfish Queseaux: Walk-On’s spicy Cajun Queseaux with crawfish added, $9.99
Mahi Mahi Fries: Fried mahi mahi strips served with mango chile sauce, $13.99
Crawfish Boil Soup: Spicy crawfish soup available in a cup or bowl for $5.99 or $9.99
Walk-On’s Wedge: Gulf jumbo shrimp on a wedge of iceberg lettuce with bacon, tomatoes, candied pecans, green onions and blue cheese crumbled with a vinaigrette spiced with Tabasco pepper jelly, $12.99
Blackened Redfish: Seasoned redfish topped with lemon sauce and served on shrimp rice with green beans, $14.99
Boom Boom Shrimp Tacos: Walk-On’s spicy shrimp served in tortillas, $11.99
Sautéed Lemon Shrimp: Sautéed jumbo gulf shrimp topped with lemon sauce over shrimp rice and broccoli, $16.99
