Pizza Hut lets Twitter users trade Christmas gifts for pizza

The quick-service chain reprised a popular $10 Any pizza promotion after the holiday

Pizza Hut reprised its popular $10 Any pizza promotion Wednesday by offering Twitter users the chance to get a gift card by posting their ho-hum gifts with the hashtags #PHxchange or #PizzaHutExchange.

The Plano, Texas-based division of Yum Brands Inc. used the many-happy-returns occasion to relaunch the deal, which Pizza Hut said was “its most popular and successful menu price offer of all time.” Customers can get any pizza, any size, with any toppings for $10.

“With its return, Pizza Hut will offer fans the chance to exchange those gifts that just weren't quite right for one that they know IS great — a $10 Any pizza from Pizza Hut,” the company said in statement.

Pizza Hut’s posted early on to its more than 150,000 Twitter followers: “Tweet a pic of your lamest xmas present, tag it #PHxchange & be one of first 100 to get a $10 Any pizza from @PizzaHut!” The prize was awarded in the form of a $10 gift card.

"No single offer in our company history has ever struck a chord with consumers like our $10 Any pizza deal,” said Pizza Hut chief marketing officer Kurt Kane.

“Unfortunately, when it comes to receiving gifts this time of the year, getting exactly what you want isn't always the case,” Kane said. “As a result, we're offering fans a chance for something that they know is great — and that's their favorite $10 Any pizza from Pizza Hut.”

The deal was offered to customers in the 48 contiguous United States and the District of Columbia. Pizza Hut has about 10,000 restaurants in more than 90 countries.
