Starbucks test premium 'fresh-pressed' coffee

SEATTLE In yet another move to combat declining traffic trends, Starbucks Coffee Corp. is testing a higher-priced premium coffee in a handful of stores in Seattle and Boston.

In Seattle, a 12-ounce cup of “fresh-pressed” coffee is priced at $2.50, which compares with the coffeehouse giant’s regular brew for $1.55. In Boston, the more premium cup is priced at $2.25.

Similar to a French press, an $11,000 machine known as a Clover is used to make the premium brew. Starbucks is also testing a more value-priced $1 refillable cup.
