Shaun Doty to open burger restaurant

ATLANTA Shaun Doty plans to join the ranks of fine-dining chefs who also run burger joints.

The chef-owner of Shaun's in Atlanta said he has signed two leases for spaces in that city where he plans to open fast-casual restaurants specializing in hamburgers.

Doty said the most popular restaurant dinner in the United States is a hamburger, which he noted was neither a fad nor a trend, but a fact.

He said he is still working out details, including the name, for what he hopes will become a restaurant chain, but he plans to open the first unit in April and the second in September 2010.

Other fine-dining chefs who have opened burger-centric restaurants include Emeril Lagasse, Bobby Flay, Hubert Keller, Daniel Boulud and Michael Symon.
