Bruegger’s relaunches holiday LTOs

Bruegger’s Bagel Bakery has relaunched two popular limited time only offers for the holiday season — a lunch combination featuring a Four Cheese and Tomato Panini with Fire Roasted Tomato Soup, and a Cinnamon Roll bagel.

The Burlington, Vt.-based fast-casual brand is offering the lunch combination for a suggested price of $6.99, and the Cinnamon Roll Bagel for $1.79. Both items will be available through the end of the year.

In addition, continued expansion helped boost sales at Bruegger’s parent company, Bruegger’s Enterprises Inc., in the third quarter ended Oct. 5. Sales for the company rose by 3.1 percent to $58.7 million during the quarter compared with the same period last year.

The Bruegger’s chain added five new locations in the third quarter, bringing the total number to 300 in 26 states, Washington, D.C., and Toronto. Bruegger’s added 17 company-owned, franchised and co-branded bakeries over the past year.

Same-store sales increased 2.8 percent for company locations and 2.0 percent systemwide in the third quarter.

Threecaf Brands Canada — Bruegger’s wholly owned Canadian subsidiary that includes Timothy’s World Coffee, mmmuffins and Michel’s Baguette Cafes  — reported a 2.6-percent increase in same-store sales during the quarter.

“Our ongoing investment in our brands and commitment to growth is contributing to positive momentum for the portfolio as we move through the fourth quarter of 2010 and into 2011,” said chief executive Jim Greco.

In September, the company also completed the renovation of 13 locations in the Raleigh, N.C., market, and has plans to renovate more than 30 by the end of the year.

Bruegger’s is owned by private-equity firm Sun Capital Partners, Inc.
