Subway names new director of global operations

Tracy Steinwand will lead “Fresh Forward” revamp around the world

Tracy Steinwand has been promoted to the role of director of global operations for Subway, the Milford, Conn.-based company said Monday.

In her new role, Steinwand will lead all aspects of Subway’s global operations as the 44,000-unit chain undergoes a revamp to its new “Fresh Forward” design. Subway has restaurants in 113 countries.

Steinwand (left) replaces former vice president of operations Trevor Haynes, who was named the chain's chief business development officer in October.

“We are proud of the momentum we have seen in transforming the restaurant experience, and operational initiatives like the Fresh Forward design have been critical to that effort,” said Suzanne Greco, Subway president and CEO, in a statement. “We are excited to promote Tracy as our global operations director to continue to build on that success and to deliver new strategies that will redefine the restaurant environment across the globe.”

In addition, Steinwand will continue to lead the learning-and-development team at Subway, which is responsible for creating a culture of continual, holistic learning for all members of the field, the company said.

Steinwand previously served as the chain’s director of franchise services, leading the teams that supported franchisees. Before that, she was a regional director for Australia and New Zealand for eight years. She began her career with the company as a field consultant in Canada in 1993.
