As Pizza Hut rolls out its new loyalty program, the brand is offering a lifetime of free pizza to the rewards club member who correctly guesses the number of dominoes toppled in an arena-sized event Monday.
The Plano, Texas-based division of Yum! Brands Inc. early this month launched a spend-based loyalty program, “Hut Rewards,” and on Monday worked toward setting the record for the most dominoes toppled in a shape of a pizza.
Pizza Hut, in turn, challenged its new Hut Rewards members to correctly guess the number of knocked-down dominoes for a chance to win pizza for life.
The dominoes event was filmed Monday at Dallas’ American Airlines Center after 13 dominoes artists had spent more than two days setting it up, a company spokesman said. The toppling itself took less than five minutes.
The designs included creative elements to highlight the benefits of Hut Rewards, including flexible point redemption and no daily limits.
The pattern also showcased catapults, domino “walls” and 250 pizza boxes to complete the layout.
To win the pizza for life, Pizza Hut is asking Hut Rewards members to submit guesses via email at [email protected] with the number of dominoes knocked down. Entrants must be Hut Rewards members to be eligible to win. The first person to guess correctly will be awarded free pizza for life in the form of 312,000 points deposited into their Hut Rewards account, which equals one pizza, every other week for 60 years.
“Setting a world record was rewarding,” said Zipporah Allen, Pizza Hut U.S. vice president of marketing, in a statement. “But offering Hut Rewards members unlimited points toward free pizza and a shot at free pizza for life, is even more rewarding.”
Pizza Hut has more than 16,400 restaurants in more than 100 countries.
