Restaurant owner sues Google over map-listing (The Guardian)
A restaurant owner in the Washington, D.C., area is suing Google for an incorrect Google Maps listing that he claims led to a sudden decline in customers and forced him to lay off staff and close the eatery. Rene Bertagna, owner of the 40-year-old Serbian Crown restaurant, claimed the restaurant suffered a 75-percent drop in customers on the weekend in early 2012. Bertagna closed the restaurant in April 2013. The federal court suit alleges the Google Maps listing had falsely shown Serbian Crown shut over the weekend and Monday, previously the restaurant’s busiest days.
