McCormick & Schmick's offers veterans a free meal

PORTLAND Ore. McCormick & Schmick's is reprising its Veterans Appreciation Event for the 10th year, offering military veterans a free entrée on Nov. 9.

The event began in 1999 at a single unit of the upscale seafood chain and was expanded systemwide because of its "overwhelming popularity," according to a statement from McCormick & Schmick's.

"What better way to connect with our community and show thanks to these service men and women than by providing them with the opportunity to enjoy quality time with their loved ones in a place that offers a lively atmosphere and fresh, delicious food for the entire family," Doug Schmick, co-founder of McCormick & Schmick's, said in the statement.

The offer applies to anyone defined as a veteran by the Veterans Administration. Proper identification is required, McCormick & Schmick's said.

McCormick & Schmick's operates 91 restaurants, including 85 namesake restaurants in the United States and six restaurants in Canada under the The Boathouse brand.
