People Report, MFHA introduce Diversity Report 2014

NRN exclusive media partner for survey set to provide look at foodservice diversity

Restaurant research firm People Report, a TDn2K company, has partnered with the Multicultural Foodservice and Hospitality Alliance to develop “The State of the Foodservice Industry: Diversity Report 2014.” Nation’s Restaurant News will act as exclusive media partner and cover results in a special report in 2014.

The comprehensive study will reveal diversity practices in the restaurant industry and provide analysis into the results and trends.

The research objective is to provide information that will help foodservice executives understand areas where the industry is performing well, and identify challenges that need to be addressed in attracting diverse talent and marketing to multicultural consumers and workforces.

All data submitted will remain completely confidential and will only be released in aggregate. No company-specific information will be shared by People Report or MFHA in any capacity. (NRN will not receive individual data or results.)

“In order to attract and retain top multicultural talent, we need to use quantifiable facts that illustrate our commitment and progress on diversity and inclusion issues,” Gerald A. Fernandez, president at the MFHA, said in a statement. “Equally important is the need to be open and honest about opportunities to improve.”

“We believe there is an opportunity for the industry to improve through knowledge. Foodservice typically has great diversity at the hourly level, but some of the best and most engaged employees are not advancing up the corporate ladder,” adds Victor Fernandez, executive director of insights for TDn2K. “The opportunity for us to learn what we are doing collectively and how we are addressing diversity challenges can be a game changer for the industry.”

The study will determine:
•    The diversity profile of the restaurant industry by position level, from hourly employees through corporate executives
•    Various components of diversity
•    Prevalence and use of diversity strategies and how these strategies are communicated to employees
•    Use of diversity training programs within the industry.

To participate in this study, please visit: http://bit.ly/I4STlG and complete the survey by Dec. 18. Results will be available for all survey participants by late February 2014. All data submitted will remain confidential and will only be released in aggregate.
