Pie Five parent's loss widens in 1Q

Rave Restaurant Group attributes loss to Pie Five opening costs

Rave Restaurant Group Inc., parent to the Pie Five Pizza Co. fast-casual chain and Pizza Inn buffet brand, widened its loss in the first quarter ended Sept. 27, the company reported Thursday.

The Colony, Texas-based company cited increased opening expenses for owned Pie Five restaurants for the net loss of $557,000, or 5 cents a share, compared with a loss of $266,000, or 3 cents a share, in the same quarter last year. Revenue increased 28.6 percent, to $14.5 million, from $11.3
