Chuy's: New units drive 2Q profit increase

Net income increases nearly 83 percent during the quarter

Chuy’s Holdings Inc. reported on Tuesday that net income for the June 30-ended second quarter rose 82.6 percent, to $3.2 million, as it opened new units. Austin, Texas-based Chuy’s said it has added six new full-service Tex-Mex restaurants in 2013, bringing its total to 45, and was on track to have eight to nine new restaurants open for the entire year.
 

NET INCOME

Result: $3.2 million, or 19 cents per share
% Increase: 82.6% (from $1.7 million, or 16 cents per share)

REVENUE

Result: $53.4 million
% Increase: 22.7% (from $43.5 million)

SAME-STORE SALES

% Increase: 1.4%
(on a calendar-year basis, as fiscal year included a one-week shift)
