Buffalo Wild Wings estimates same-store sales dip for fiscal 2017

Ahead of sale closing, brand reports measure down 1.6%-1.7% for year

Buffalo Wild Wings Inc. estimates same-store sales for fiscal 2017 were down 1.6 percent to 1.7 percent, the company said in year-end federal filings.

Net earnings for the Minneapolis, Minn.-based casual-dining chain, which agreed Nov. 28 to a $2.9 billion sale to Arby’s Restaurant Group Inc., would show positive growth for the year, the company said in filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The deal with Atlanta-based Arby’s, a division of privately held Roark Capital Group, is expected to close this quarter.

In one of its last financial reports as a public company, Buffalo Wild Wings said its estimated 2017 net earnings were expected to be in the range of $70 million to $72 million. That compares to net income of $64 million for the 12-month period ended Sept. 24, the company said.

Buffalo Wild Wings estimated total revenues for the year would be in the range of $2,067 million to $2,069 million. That compares to revenues of $2,026 million for the 12-month period ended Sept. 24.

As of Dec. 31, Buffalo Wild Wings had 1,255 restaurants, up from 1,246 on Sept. 24. Arby’s operates more than 3,300 quick-service locations.
