Wolfgang Puck to be caterer for $3B resort-casino in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS In a twist on the lucrative love affair between Las Vegas' resort-casinos and imported celebrity chefs, Wolfgang Puck’s catering arm has signed on to be the exclusive hotelwide caterer for the $3 billion Cosmopolitan Resort & Casino, slated to open on the Strip in 2009.

Puck’s Wolfgang Puck Catering would provide the Cosmopolitan resort with a range of services, including banquets, catering, room service, hotel room mini-bars and the employee dining room. Financial terms were not disclosed.

"I've been a part of some amazing, cutting-edge endeavors," Puck said.  "But this creative partnership with The Cosmopolitan Resort & Casino has me especially excited.  We share a common desire to achieve a high standard for fine dining, and this allows us to share our passion outside of a restaurant setting."

The Cosmopolitan property would include 2,998 hotel rooms and more than 270,000 square feet of ballroom, convention, conference, spa and casino facilities, fronted on the street by 46 boutiques and 15 restaurants.

The eight-year-old Puck division operates restaurant and catering services at cultural and entertainment venues nationwide, though it is perhaps best known for its contract for the annual Governor’s Ball after the Academy Awards.

Though Puck’s flagship restaurant Spago is in Beverly Hills, Calif., the Puck Fine Dining Group is based in Las Vegas, where it has operations in four resorts.
