Pollo Campero inks pact for 5 Calif. units

LOS ANGELES MJTJ Enterprises Inc. has signed on to open five units of the Guatemalan fried chicken brand Pollo Campero in Ventura County, Calif.

The first will open next year in Oxnard, Calif., according to Bob Kamdjou, president and chief operating officer of MJTJ. The franchisee signed the agreement with Adir Restaurants Corp., based here, the master franchisor for Pollo Campero in six Western states.

Adir also operates about 14 stores in the Los Angeles area. The chain has about 200 units throughout Central America.
