NRA launches site to foster voting by restaurateurs

WASHINGTON The National Restaurant Association has launched a website, www.RestaurantsVote.com, designed to help foodservice operators cast their votes in the upcoming elections.

The website allows visitors to register to vote as well as find information about where the candidates stand on issues affecting the industry. The website is part of the NRA's Mission '08, a program developed to rally members of the restaurant industry for the presidential and congressional elections in November.

Dawn Sweeney, the NRA's president and chief executive, said the website "is a great way for the restaurant community to ensure their vote is heard in this critical election year."

The new website is "a resource to help politically active members of the restaurant industry make sense of it all," Sweeney said. "At stake is the White House, the makeup of Congress, leadership of many states and representation in state legislatures across the country."
