McD breaks nationwide recruitment campaign

CHICAGO McDonald's Corp. launched a new national advertising campaign Monday that shines a spotlight on employees and career opportunities at the fast food chain.

The advertising, the latest installment of an employment opportunity campaign McDonald's introduced in 2005, includes public relations activities, online banners and a new career web site: ww.mcdonalds.com/careers.

The television spots profile the career path of Karen King, east division president for McDonald's USA, who began as a crew person 30 years ago in Lawrenceville, Ga.

Currently, 30 percent of franchise owners, 50 percent of corporate staff, and 70 percent of restaurant managers started as hourly workers at McDonald's, according to the company. Forty percent of McDonald's top management team also got their start in McDonald's restaurants, including chief executive Jim Skinner.
