Larranaga succeeds Gould as NRN publisher

NEW YORK Tom Larranaga has been named publisher of Nation’s Restaurant News, succeeding Alan Gould, who has resigned to work with several non-profit and educational groups.

Larranaga was previously associate publisher and national sales manager of NRN. He joined Lebhar-Friedman Inc., the New York-based parent of NRN, in May 2006, after working for more than 18 years in business-to-business publishing. He is a graduate of Bryant University in Rhode Island.

“Tom will make a great publisher for Nation’s Restaurant News,” said James C. Doherty, group publisher of NRN and executive vice president of Lebhar-Friedman. “He will ensure the continued success and leadership position that this publication now holds in the foodservice industry.”

NRN today encompasses a variety of media beyond its namesake weekly newspaper, including the annual Multi-Unit Foodservice Operators Conference and FS/TEC conferences, the www.nrn.com website, 12 e-newsletters and a variety of symposia and roundtable-style seminars.

Gould led NRN for 14 years, and also served as a vice president of Lebhar-Friedman. In his new endeavor, Gould will work with groups that promote education and provide services to young people and children with special needs.

“Alan Gould has made terrific contributions to the success of Nation’s Restaurant News and its leadership position in foodservice publishing,” Doherty said. “It is with great regret that Alan is leaving our company.”
