Larranaga named to succeed Gould as NRN publisher

NEW YORK —Nation’s Restaurant News’ national director of sales, Tom Larranaga, has been promoted to publisher to succeed Alan Gould, who resigned after 10 years as NRN’s leader to work with educational and nonprofit groups.

Larranaga, who had just been named associate publisher effective last month, joined NRN as sales director in May 2006. The graduate of Bryant University in Rhode Island has worked for more than 18 years in business-to-business media, previously as group publisher at Advanstar Communications and before that as publisher with the VNU Group, now known as the Nielsen Co. —Nation’s Restaurant News’ national director of sales, Tom Larranaga, has been promoted to publisher to succeed Alan Gould, who resigned after 10 years as NRN’s leader to work with educational and nonprofit groups.

Larranaga’s experience as a leader dates back at least to his college days, when he was captain of his university’s basketball team. Gould, who also was a vice president of NRN’s New York-based parent company, Lebhar-Friedman Inc., joined NRN 14 years ago as director of marketing and was named associate publisher in 1995.
